The ‘New Nordic Cuisine’ and the Copenhagen restaurant scene are sizzling hot. When food festival Copenhagen Cooking takes place from 23 August to 1 September, you can get a taste of what it's all about. The city’s gastronomic players welcome you to a tasting experience you will not forget.

Gourmet restaurants will be offering special low prices, Nordic restaurants will be serving tastings, and there will be markets and special foodie events all over Copenhagen.
Whether you like gourmet food, traditional dishes or want to taste a little of everything there will be lots of things to try. Since 2005, Copenhagen Cooking has celebrated both Nordic and international cuisine with a festival that has your taste buds working overtime.
One of the events - ‘Nordic Taste’ - offers numerous tastings from some of the best restaurants in Scandinavia. One of the international events is ‘Taste the World’- a large street kitchen where Michelin restaurant Kiin Kiin has participated since the beginning.
There will be countless other events all over – from a Danish Championship in ‘smørrebrød’ – that famous Danish open-faced sandwiches - to cooking schools for children, pop-up restaurants, and for adults only wine- and cocktail tastings. And many of the city’s best restaurants offer special menus at favourable prices.
And the city’s restaurants are definitely worth a try. They have received many accolades both at home and abroad over the past few years. Most recently, the new 2013 edition of the Michelin Guide has awarded Copenhagen’s restaurants a total of 15 stars.
