Islands Brygge harbour bath in Copenhagen

Outdoor swimming spots

Copenhagen currently has four crystal-clear outdoor swimming areas in the inner city, perfect places to strip off and cool off with a quick summer dip - or get invigorated with a spot of winter swimming! Water quality is extremely high and the harbour baths are enjoyed by thousands of Danes and visitors each year. You can also enjoy the city’s impressive beach at Amager, so grab your swimming stuff and head into the city!

Islands Brygge

The lovely waterfront area at Islands Brygge is the place to enjoy the first of Copenhagen’s harbour baths, designed by superstar architect Bjarke Ingels.

Shop and then drop into the pools at Copencabana, right next to Fisketorvet Shopping Centre. These harbour baths offer you three pools and springboards of one, two and three metres.

Svanemølle (Swan Mill) beach and harbour baths

Dip in the harbour swimming waters next to Copenhagen’s newest beach, just a short walk from Nordhavn S-train station.

The Coral Baths at Sluseholmen

Copenhagen’s newest harbour bath, opened in 2011 with a design inspired by a coral reef.

Amager Strandpark (Amager Beach Park)

You’ll find this 4.6km (2.9 mile) long white-sand beach on the island of Amager and you can take the metro all the way there. With adjacent parkland and many small islands, this beach is a hive of activity throughout the year and a great place to swim, due to its Blue Flag status.
