In the middle of Kattegat there is a little island called Anholt, approximately 3 hours by ferry from Grenaa. From the island's two hills, North Mountain and Sonder Mountain you can see water, as far as the eye can reach. In very clear weather you can see the Swedish coastline or Djursland in the distance.
Most of the 22 km2 large island is a conservation area and a large part of the conservation area consists of "the desert".
Anholt sea is clean and the beaches are wide throughout the island.
The further we move away from the harbor, the more calm it is. The island's easternmost point, Totten, is a sanctuary for seals.
