Fyrkatspillet has been in existence since 1986. Local people have, with the help of a professional director, performed amateur plays in and around the Longhouse at the Viking Fortress "Fyrkat". Outside the rampart, one can find a reconstruction of a house as it would have appeared in the original fortress. From the fort, one has a beautiful and extraordinary view over Onsild Ådal and Vester Fjord. For Fyrkatspillet it is of great importance to bring the knowledge of the Viking era to as many people as possible. Fyrkatspillet tries to give the spectators a complete experience with indoor and outdoor theater.

On Fridays and Saturdays the play is followed by a Viking banquet.
