Hillerød Library
From cattle slaughterhouse to Library
Hillerød Library is housed in an old cattle slaughterhouse. The building is completely renovated and expanded so that it now houses a modern library. The rebuilding is a good example of a logical and simple plan and that it is possible to find new uses for former industrial sites by providing architectural quality. Vandrehallen, which is 70 meters long and 8 meter high houses changing art exhibits and is used for lectures and concerts.
Architects: Claus Bjarrum Architects A / S, built in 2001. The house won the Ministry of Culture Availability Price in 2001.
