Als Camping

If you want to enjoy your camping holiday in peace and relaxation amidst the picturesque surroundings along the East Coast of Himmerland, Als Camping is the perfect place.

The campsite is located freely in nature in Als, about 6 km south of Øster Hurup. The site offers a view of the water, and a small forest borders the Kattegat. There is the opportunity to swim in the clear and very child-friendly water. You have to go far out before it gets deep. There is a natural calm on the site, and your neighbors are grazing cows.

The campsite is operated on a voluntary basis by the Als Citizen Association, which creates a very special atmosphere. The atmosphere is familial, and you can always have a chat and get tips about the area. In Als, you will find an inn, a bakery, a butcher, and a larger grocery store.

Experiences in the area

In Øster Hurup, you will find one of Denmark's best and most child-friendly beaches. If you are an early riser, you can enjoy the sunrise over the Kattegat. If you enjoy water sports, the coast is ideal for kayaking, stand-up paddling, sailing, and much more. Øster Hurup comes alive in the summer with flea markets every Tuesday in the high season and selected Friday concerts.

Øster Hurup Harbor is home to about 180 sailboats and boats of various sizes, as well as some of the beautiful blue-painted cutters. In the harbor, there is a very special atmosphere in the summer, and facilities such as cafes, playgrounds, kiosks, and fishmongers have a magical attraction.

In Lille Vildmose, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the terrain on foot, by bike, by bus, or by car. In the middle of Lille Vildmose lies Lille Vildmose Center, a living information center that provides insights into the nature and cultural values of the bog. Lille Vildmose Center is the natural starting point for a visit to the bog and offers experiences for the whole family.

Take a trip around Mariager Fjord and experience the cozy harbor and the old town of Mariager. Here, there is plenty of coziness, shopping, dining, and many more great experiences.

In Hadsund, there is both a pedestrian zone and a shopping center, so there are plenty of shopping opportunities. If hunger strikes, you don't have to go far to get delicious food. There are several good restaurants in Hadsund, both in the pedestrian zone, in the shopping center, and at various locations in the city. Also, visit the deer park, which is like a small green oasis in the middle of Hadsund. Here, you can see deer and pet goats and enjoy your own picnic.

In the innermost part of Mariager Fjord lies Hobro, one of the oldest market towns in North Jutland. Hobro is the largest town in the municipality and a town with a lot of life, trade, and culture. Most famous is Hobro for the unique Viking fortress Fyrkat, which was built a thousand years ago just a few kilometers west of present-day Hobro. Here is also the Viking Center Fyrkat, a reconstructed Viking town with lots of activities, primarily during the school holidays.

Enjoy a boat trip with Svanen on Mariagerfjord. It is an idyllic tour through a fantastic landscape full of natural and cultural history experiences, and there are departures from Hobro, among others.
