Arne Jacobsen, the furniture designer

Designer and architect Arne Jacobsen is known worldwide for his many Danish classics

Architect and designer Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) graduated from the Royal Academy in Copenhagen, where he received the gold medal of honour - one of many distinctions that Jacobsen, in his indefatigable quest for excellence, would garner during his lifetime.

At an early stage of his career, Jacobsen teamed with furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen, a brand name inextricably linked with modern Danish designer furniture. This was a legendary collaboration that would result in some of the most successful and prestigious pieces of furniture the world has ever known: The Ant Chair (1952), The Series 7 Chair (1955), The Egg, and The Swan (1958).
