Denmark has a centuries old tradition for research and higher learning in almost every recognized academic field. The oldest Danish university was founded over 500 years ago and is still active today.
In Denmark the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation ensures that Danish research is innovative and of a high international standard by creating the best possible environment for Danish research. The goal for Danish research is to continue to be innovative and possess the highest scientific quality possible.
Denmark has been named the second best country at research and innovation on an EU Commission ranking list of its 28 member states in 2016. Denmark was also dubbed the best country in the EU for 'digital performance' in the European Commission's annual report on digital services in Europe in 2016.
