Den Gamle By, The Old Town Museum is is a National Open Air Museum of Urban History and Culture in Aarhus. The attraction has been awarded three Michelin stars. It is a living and breathing experience of what it was like to live and work in a Danish market town, as it was in the old days and here you can taste, smell, try and experience history.
The Old Town Museum is a unique museum, welcoming more than 3 million visitors over the course of the last 10 years. Here you can meet the people and characters of the past, experience life as it was in their livingrooms and kitchens; and smell the flowers right in their own gardens.

During the year there will be plenty of special events in Den Gamle By. Every December, around christmas time you will have the opportunity to experience how danes celebrate christmas or how they used to in the good old days.
Living History in Den Gamle By - The Old Town Museum from Easter to 30th December. Here you can talk to the kitchen maid or help the yard’s hand bring firewood into the kitchen. Your can also visit the historical shops and taste the cakes baked with recipes from 1885. The many characters of yesteryear's market towns will tell you about their life whether rich or poor, old or young.
