The word ‘gallery’ derives from the Latin word ‘galilea’ and means ‘church porch’. In medieval monasteries, porticos would lead to the entrance of the church.
Galleri Bibelland (i.e. Gallery Bible Land) is a kind of portico leading to Christianity.
Christian art seeks to convey the gospel and brims with symbols and icons representing the biblical world.
Our dream is ...
... that Galleri Bibelland is to be a showcase and experimental workshop for Christian art in Denmark aiming at a wide audience.
Our goal is ...
... to encourage children, young people and elderly people to take a step closer to God in their encounter with art.
The permanent exhibition
Galleri Bibelland’s permanent exhibition comprises Gert Grube’s collection of biblical sculptures. The collection includes more than 40 works that relate a number of biblical stories and various aspects of Christianity. All sculptures are made of clay.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the gallery also features temporary exhibitions showcasing works by different artists. See Galleri Bibelland’s own website for current and future gallery exhibitions.
