A picture-postcard village with thatched cottages, Møgeltønder in South Jutland is home to the Queen of Denmark’s youngest son, Prince Joachim. The tree-lined cobbled village lane is also the location of a 300-year-old heritage wayside inn of royal license, Schackenborg Slotskro. The inn is co-owned by the Prince and offers cottage accommodation and gourmet dining. Autumn menu offerings include venison and game from the royal estate. And when the princely couple aren’t dining out at the inn you just might be lucky enough to get their favourite table (marked by a crowned candlestick).
