Ti trin ned

Basement bliss in a historic coastal town

The name Ti trin ned (literally, ‘Ten steps Under/Down') refers to the location of the vaulted basement restaurant in the historic coastal town of Fredericia – although, critics have noted that the restaurant is actually 12 steps below street level. Nonetheless, the husband-and-wife team – Mette Hvarre Gassner and Rainer Gassner – has earned nationwide fame for their top-drawer cuisine and sculpted dishes. Mette Hvarre Gassner (who is also a highly trained waiter) won the Chef of the Year title in 2011.
