Hover Å dalen
11 km in varied nature…
This route gives an impression of the diversity in the landscape of western Denmark. The route is in small roads and paths alongside the stream Hover Å, through heath landscapes and meadows reflecting the power of nature. This beautiful nature trail starts at the market square in Hover. From here it continues west to the old Roman ashlar church built around 1200. The church is open. A small area is called Canada because of ”the settlers” on the state properties. At Muldbjerg you find the Bronze Age mounds.
In Muldbjerg you pass Hestbæk – a small brook between the hills where the legend has it that at midnight you can meet a headless horse! The route goes through the heath back to Hover. After the church you pass Hover Å, a stream winding idyllic through the valley. The route continues to Muldbjerg where you can see the old watermill from 1600. The route is marked with walking signs and arrows. The paths are covered with gravel and asphalt and can be used with a wheel-chair. The area also has walking routes by Velling, Ølstrup and Tim. Driving instructions to the starting point: From Ringkøbing along ”Holstebrovej” to Hee. Turn left in Hee along the “Hovervej”. In Hover you park at the market square.
