Karolinelund

The city park, Karolinelund, in the centre of Aalborg, has undergone a huge development recently, from amusement park to culture park. Karolinelund is rapidly evolving into the centre of niche culture in Aalborg, which is expressed through events, concerts and more.

In Karolinelund, beautiful graffiti testify to a multifarious city culture, which is still fenced in by the walls that used to shield rollercoasters and shooting galleries from the city houses and roads surrounding the amusement park. Today, the amusement park is gone, but the graffiti can still be seen inside the walls.

Multible activities
Platform 4 is a volunteer house where creative people with an interest in digital media, art and music meet and create interesting culture. Additionally, each summer the park is the home of 'Friday Parties' with prominent artists, which fill the park with a festive atmosphere, and the 'Friday Parties' are well-visited by the citizens of Aalborg. On sunny weekdays, the citizens of Aalborg often gather in small groups on the soft grass in Karolinelund.

Joggers also make good use of the park, as it has various challenges for joggers in the form of hills, hedges and benches. These challenges are used to do extra strength training during a run. Skaters hang out by the ramp and the smooth asphalt, which makes it ideal to put on a pair of roller skates or bring a skateboard to the park and scoot along.

The Gardens
Finally, the gardens in Karolinelund, Urban Gardening, have quickly become popular among citizens of Aalborg. Flowers and vegetables grow in boxes, planters, raised beds and even in a toilet and a bathtub. The only limits are your imagination on how to plant a garden. The Gardens of Aalborg are definitely worth a visit.

With this many users of the park, Karolinelund is developing into a lovely oasis in the middle of the city, and a Mecca for those who like to leave their marks on the city and profit by a location so close to cultural places like Nordkraft and Musikkens Hus, the music house of Aalborg.
