Nørlund Plantation is situated approximately 10 kilometres south of Ikast. Together with Harrild Heath, the plantation constitutes an 30 km2 large area of a 'hill island'. The plantation was created by sand migration and has since been ravaged by the large masses of sand, but by creation of dune dikes, the historic sand migration was stopped in 1790s. In 1810, tree seeds were sown, and after 1877 major tree plantings took place to prevent future sand migration.
Today, Nørlund Plantation and Harrild Heath are perfect destinations for the nature lovers, and invites to many nature activities.
