Public holidays during the Christmas period
During the Christmas period, Denmark observes national public holidays on 25 and 26 December, as well as 1 January.
Shop opening hours during Christmas
In general, all shops are allowed to stay open 24 hours a day and trade what they want. In reality, most major shops and department stores will operate with opening hours from 9/10am to 6/8pm during December, whilst some stores stay open until 10pm.
All shops must be closed on the public holidays of 25 and 26 December, and 1 January. Furthermore, shops must be closed on Christmas Eve (24 December) and from 3pm on New Year's Eve (31 December).
