Ribe VikingeCenter - meet the vikings

Travel 1300 years back in time to when the Vikings ruled Ribe. Explore three authentic reconstructions of the Viking town Ribe 720AD - 980AD. Come face to face with Viking farmers, craftsmen, warriors, strong women and old-breed animals. Visit their homes and discover the true Viking way of life. There is no glass to separate you from the real experience, so join the activities and get involved.

Take a stroll through the market place and meet skillful artisans. Explore the town and get an impresson of how the inn, the prestigious Thing-hall and the streets would have appeared. Visit the Manor Farm where you will encounter a number of old-breed animals. Step inside the houses, have a chat with the Vikings and just breathe in the atmosphere. Ribe VikingeCenter invites you to test the myths and discover new and perhaps even surprising details about the infamous Danish Vikings. A long list of events and hands-on activities will draw you into the magical and mythical universe of the old Danes.

Two of the major events of the season are the International Viking Market in May and Vikings on the Warpath in July. You will also have the opportunity to meet the Vikings at their most festive, when the Midsummer and Harvest festivals among others are celebrated and the gods thanked by means of offerings. Throughout the season, visitors will be able to experience working Vikings as well as falconry displays, archery, Icelandic horses and various hands-on activities.

Ribe VikingeCenter is a unique reconstruction of significant archaeological finds made in and around Ribe. This is where history truly comes to life!
