In this year’s Hamlet performance at Kronborg Castle two great stars will play the roles of Ofelia and Hamlet. The rising stars are the talented and award-winning Danish actors: Natalie Madueño and Cyron Melville.

First international in-house production
The play is the first international in-house production by the HamletScenen. The play is directed by the artistic director of the HamletScenen, Lars Romann Engel.

About HamletScenen
The Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet’s Castle is a major Danish event. In 1816 it instigated the tradition of performing Shakespeare at Kronborg Castle.
The Festival features spectacular, world-class Shakespeare productions, staged and performed by the most acclaimed theatre companies of our time.
The productions are performed in the open air at Kronborg Castle every year in August.  
HamletScenen enjoys a unique location on Hamlet’s Island with a view of the world famous Renaissance castle, which is on the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites. It is perhaps better known as Hamlet’s Castle in Elsinore.
In HamletScenen’s ‘hall of fame’ you can see portraits of many of the great Shakespeare stars who have performed at Kronborg Castle over the years: Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir John Gielgud, Richard Burton, Sir Derek Jacobi, Sir Kenneth Branagh, Simon Russell Beale, David Dencik, Jens Albinus, Thure Lindhardt, Lars Eidinger, Jude Law etc.
