You will find a beautiful view over Aalborg from more directions at Signalbakken (Signal Hill). At the Hill you will find Hvilehøj (Rest Hill) and Signalhøj (Signal Hill) which are two mounds. Signalhøj is the tallest with its 52 m.
From different excavations, there is evidence the people from the early Stone Age have been living there.
The name, Signalbakken, comes from the last half of the 1800 hundred where there was a signal mast where the Copenhagen ships signalled their arrival to Aalborg.
Signalbakken is the last rests of the vast moor- and pasture area that once grew around Aalborg.
Signalbakken was preserved in 1969 and since 2009, Vejgård Plejelaug has taken care of the maintenance of Signalbakken in cooperation with Vejgård Council, the Danish Society of Nature Conservation and Aalborg Municipality.
