Solringen

THE SOLAR RING (Solringen)  Bronze and Granite water art sculpture by Claes Hake, 1993, Hjørring

The ring is one of the first and simplest forms of decorative art in all cultures. This ring rises monumentally above the busy square, and its form is reflected by the still water of the pool.

The solar ring is made of polished bronze and has been placed next to a sculpted water basin made from Bohus granite, with a calm surface, from which the water gently flows over the edge. The water is recycled and maintained ice-free. With this solar ring Claes Hake intends to show us how a sculpture and a water basin can always remain calm, simple and yet magnificent. At Springvandspladsen (the Fountain Square) water is, of course, a necessity.
