Experience a marketplace from the days of the Sound Dues in Helsingør on Saturday 19 August, when 150 actors in historical costumes creates 1800-century atmosphere
All senses come to live when the lively marketplace of the Sound Due days is recreated in front of the museum Skibsklarerergården in Helsingør. Square wives are haggling in the trade stalls, where the smell of freshly smoked herring and cheese spreads. Taste the lobscouse and enjoy a gin and a ship's beer while the kids make pancakes over a fire. The blacksmith and cobbler are busy in their workshops, and you can see the bookbinder exercise his ancient craft. In the harbour historic wooden ships smell of rope and tar. Soldiers in 1800-century uniforms guard the market's guests and patrol in the town where you can take a ride on the horse-drawn carriage or join a guided tour to the historic backyards.
Take the whole family on an enjoyable trip back to the days of the Sound Dues on Saturday 19 August from 10 am – 4 pm.
