The statue of Søren Kanne - Djursland - Eastjutland

The statue of Soeren Kanne was set up because on the 15th February he defied a storm and the sea as he heard a skipper`s cry for help from a grounded ship. As the lifeboat could not sail him to the wreck he took his father's horses and had them swim out to the wreck. He succeeded in saving the skipper and one sailor and got a life- saving medal of King Frederik VI. On November 10th he drowned in the stream of Grenaa as he slipped in the darkness.
