The Aarhus Festival
Aarhus Festival is among the largest cultural events in Scandinavia and showcases both local, national and international artists. Aarhus Festival is highly esteemed and recognized both in Denmark and abroad.
Light, more light
The 2015 Festival theme is 'Light, more light'. Under this headline the spotlight will be turned on Aarhus in more than one sense. Electric, eclectic, illuminating, flashing, with light trails, lamps in shady alleys, in and out of the shadows, with laser light, diode light, candles and dynamos.
Seven-metre rabbits lighting up the City Hall park at night time
Five huge white rabbits will make the City Hall Park their home during the Aarhus Festival. These seven-metre sculptures constitute the Intrude work of art. Disguised as fairytale creatures the rabbits light up the City Hall park. One is standing on its hind legs, another is lounging in the grass, while a third rabbit is alert on lookout in the late summer scenery of Aarhus.
The Sofa Experience
Landscape architects Schönherr designed the 62,1 metre long sofa that again this year will be the social centre on Store Torv. When darkness falls the sofa’s built in light panels will light up and add another dimension to the sofa as well as the surrounding square.
Be aware of a Aarhus Festival app. I 2014 there was one for iPhone and Android. You can see the Aarhus Festival app 2014 for iPhone and Android

The patron of Aarhus Festival is HM Queen Margrethe II and the Mayor of Aarhus is Chairman of the Festival Board. The festival is held in late August and early September. Aarhus Festival was first held in September 1965 and has developed into both an international festival and a major local cultural event.
