Go 3 m. under the surface of one of the busiest shopping streets in Aalborg and find the Franciscan (Gråbrødre) Monastery Museum. By using the elevator outside department store Salling entrance at Algade, you see the well-preserved medieval ruins of the Franciscan monastery in Aalborg. Experience the walled cellar and foundations of the old monastery chapel.
The Franciscan Monastery was established in Aalborg around year 1250. In the Monastery, finds and displays tell the visitors about the excavation of the monastery and about the life at the monastery in medieval Aalborg.
You can order a guided tour at Nordjyllands Historical Museum, at 99 31 74 00. Special events can also be arranged in the Franciscan Monastery.
