Tofte Forest and Bog
The deer fence around the forest and bog of "Tofte" is about 27 kilometers long and was built in 1906. The forest covers about 500 hectares and is one of the largest coherent natural forests in Denmark. The bog, which covers about 2000 hectares, is the remains of the southern part of the original raised bog. Here the deers forage in the winter and in the summer, birds like curlews and gruiformes breed. Two short-toed eagles have frequented the bog for two last summer seasons.
