Vaer Church is a romanesque ashlar church, especially known for being the last resting place of the Chancellor of Denmark Peder Griffenfeld (1635-1699). Griffenfeld died in Trondhjem after having been imprisoned for treason. He was buried with his wife in Vaer church, where his daughter and her husband, who owned Stensballegaard, came to rest with him.
In the porch is a very beautiful gravestone from the Renaissance. In the crypt are 7 coffins.
The church is situated beautifully at Vaer Lake.
Open every sunday and in the sexton's workinghours.
