Vestervig Church

Vestervig Church is the largest village church in Scandinavia, originally a monastery church. The church has one of the two remaining cononical sundials in Europe, and an organ with 52 stops which can be heard at the many concerts.

History:
The church is also known for the legend of Liden Kirsten and Prince Buris.
Liden Kirsten, who was brother to Queen Sofie. When the King heard of the love story, he had Liden Kirsten dance until she died. She was buried in the church yard. Buris was blinded, gelded, and chained to the churchwall, and from here he could only just touch Liden Kirsten's grave. When he died, he was buried in the same grave. It is still tradition that local brides lay a bouquet on the grave.
