Bork Vikingehavn
How did the Vikings live? And how did they travel around? Take a journey 1000 years back in time!
Many brave boys and girls have since the opening of Bork Vikingehavn in the year 2000 been able to tell their friends a great story about the time where the meet true Danish Vikings! The beautiful buildings of the museum are reconstructions, and, to the extent possible, made like the original and of local materials. “Havørnen”, meaning The Sea eagle, is a 17 meter long Viking ship – a copy of the Gokstad-ship found in the Oslo fjord. During the summer and in the autumn break you can follow the work in the long house, buy goods on the Viking ship, and try the bow and the arrow and much more. Every year in the first weekend of August a well attended Viking Fair is held. Here you can see the Vikings bargain in the stalls, fight in great battles, riding and eating like they did a thousand years ago. Families and groups can stay the night in the Long House. Contact the museum for further information about special arrangements.
