"A true Copy" - P.S. Krøyer by Peter Martensen
"A TRUE COPY" - P.S. KRØYER BY Peter Martensen - exhibition at Kulturhus Kappelborg
Peter Martensen is the artist who recreated the Krøyer- paintings that were used in Bille August's film "Marie Krøyer".
Martensen is represented on a number of Danish art museums, and you can also find his works at the Kunsthalle Rostock, Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Gothenburg Museum of Art.
Peter Martensen often work serially with issues that affect past and present. Therefore, it is perhaps not surprising that he - as known portrait painter - chose to enter into Krøyers "brush marks".
Peter Martensen paint actress Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, who plays Marie Krøyer in the film into a credible, yet original version of Krøyer's works.
Photographs from Skagen Local History Archive put the paintings in a historical perspective. These will be seen alongside reproductions of Krøyer's paintings and photographs taken during the filming of Marie Krøyer.
