The monastery in Elsonore is one of the best preserved in the Northern Europe.
The monastery was founded in 1430 when Erik of Pommern invited the monks to Elsinore.

After the reformation the monastery was transformed into a hospital and old peoples home. Since 1991 the buildings has worked as administration of the diocesan of Elsinore.
