© Destination Djursland

Ebeltoft is one og the moste worth-seeing towns of Denmark with its leaning half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and hollyhocks in flower.

The town war granted the municipal character in 1301 and is thus the oldest borough of Djursland. The town with an atmosphere of its own, situated on a hill sloping towards the cove of Ebeltoft Vig is very popular.

You'll find lots of small shops with handicraft, fashion, etc. as well as excellent restaurants. In sommer the streets are often full of music or other sorts of entertainment - also in the night. The old small-town atmosphere of Ebeltoft reflects a piece of Denmarks's history through some centuries. Throughout the whole year, guests of the town are invited for a walk on their own on the cobbles streets of Nørrebakke and Adelgade, which are business streets, as well as on Fedt Mikkels Gangs close to the chemist's shop.

Torvet with The Old Town Hall, Overgade and Nedergade, Ebeltoft Kirke. The roadway of Overgade is made of dressed stones, whereas the rest of the street as well as the guttters are made of pick-dressed stones. Earlier one of the town gates was situated excactly where Kurveleddet joins Overgade. At Strandvejen you can still see the remains of the old dikes of seaweed.
