Hinge Kirke

Hinge Kirke is lying north of Hinge sø by the village Hinge.

Hinge Kirke is one of the oldest brickstone churches in Denmark.
It is built in the middle of the 12th century, and perhaps managed by the monks from the neighbouring Allingkloster.
Time has been hard to the brickstone church, and the original brickstones are clearly to be seen in the eastern part of the church with the chamfer plinth and the bricked up window in apsis. A series of rare frescos were discovered in 1980.

The tower, as it is today, is dated back to a restoration organized by J.A Fischer for Allinggård in 1779, which can be seen on the weather vane.

Open from dawn until dusk, Sundays during church service hours. The key can be requested from the parson, Frede Møller, Tingskrivervej 28B, Hinge 8620 Kjellerup.
