Jazzhus Montmartre
Jazzhouse Montmartre in the middle of Copenhagen is the place to be when it comes to jazz.
This epic jazz venue was at its height in the 1960s and 1970s, when American jazz giants Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Stan Getz and Kenny Drew became regulars at the club and eventually moved to Copenhagen.
The club unfortunately closed down in 1995, but reopened in 2010 when entrepreneur and media executive Rune Bech and jazz pianist Niels Lan Doky got together, opened the placed and made a jazz dream come true.
Today the place is run as a non-profit organization, meaning that no private person can make money out of it.
Jazzhouse Montmartre also offers a cafe with Italien dishes at very reasonable prices. Concerts start at 20:00 and there is no dining during shows, so be early!
If you are a student remember to bring your student id - if there are seats left, you get in at half the price.
