Munkenes Teglovn (medieval brick kiln)
In the Sortebrødre brick kiln - Munkenes Teglovn - from the twelfth century, the monks burned large tiles, for example for the Dominican monastery, which was situated on the location of the current city hall. In 1923, the brick kiln was re-discovered and excavated by the Danish National Museum. The citizens of Vejle then collected an amount large enough to build a protecting building over the ruin. The brick kiln was restored to its original state in 1983.
