The Hirbolakes were excavated in the years 1961 and 1962. It took place in context with the foundation of the harbour in Rødbyhavn. 

The lakes are deep with steep sides. The underwater plants have difficulties with their spreading. 

It is possible to catch fish like pikes, perches, carps, breams and tench. Especially in the big lake you’ll find huge carps. 

Tourists must buy a fish card. You can buy the card in the shop Sport & Bowling in Lalandia. It costs 50 krones per day.
