The largest lake in Denmark, earlier connected with Kattegat.
The water level is very low in average about 3 m. and no place over 6 m.
A little under 1/10 is covered with a wood of reed.
The lake has a very rich bird and floral life.
Several preservations have been carried through around the lake.
