Christmas in Copenhagen
Copenhagen is a real Christmas city and oozes of atmosphere during the Christmas month. In fact as early as Friday 2 November when the Christmas beer starts to flow from the taps in the city's bars.
You simply cannot avoid getting into the Christmas spirit when the lights are switched on and the Christmas decorations go up on Copenhagen's shopping street Strøget 17 November, and there is a scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds hanging in the air.
Music is playing from the shops, where you will find some good deals and a wide range of gifts to bring home for your loved ones.
The city's churches offer a wealth of free Christmas concerts, and the city's theatres each have their own Christmas play.
Christmas markets and exhibitions
Tivoli Christmas market is a must, but why not also visit the Christmas market in Christiania or some of the Christmas markets and exhibitions north of Copenhagen.
Please note that Danes celebrate Christmas on 24 December, and thus most attractions, museums, shops and restaurants are closed 24 - 26 and 31 December - 1 January.
Copenhagen Zoo is an exception. However most bars and nightclubs are open during Christmas, as the young locals tend to go out at night.
