Glenholm Vineyard is a family-held vineyard highly located by the Limfjord – 45metres above the water – with the view of the islands Livø, Fur and Mors. The underground contains of clay with gravel, chalk and flint, which creates the best conditions for growing grapevine.
At Glenholm Vineyard red wine, white wine, dessert wine, sparkling wine and brandy are produced of different kinds of grapes including Rondo, Regent, Ortega and Madelaine Angevine. During the summer season, the restaurant is open which opens the opportunity to enjoy your meals on one of the many decks. Furthermore, Glenholm Vineyard arranges barbecue evenings.
In 1993 the first grapevine was planted at Glenholm Vineyard. At that time, only about 20 grapevines were planted and it was a mix of four different sorts brought home from England. Without being planned that way, this became the foundation of an ongoing development of a Danish vineyard which today has a planted area of 2.5 hectares. Today eight different sorts of grapevine are grown at Glenholm and the vineyard produces 7000 bottles a year.
Today, Glenholm Vineyard is carried on by the entire family - both the first and the second generation.
Guided tours for larger groups can be arranged all year round.
Regular tours in July and August: The tour starts in the field where the guide will tell about the conditions for growing grapevine and the different sorts of grapes. Afterwards, the machinery to produce wine is displayed and the guide will tell about the processing of the grapes from they are harvested and until the vine has been bottled. The tour includes a vine tasting and a meal as desired. The tour takes between 1½ and 2½ hour depending of the composition of the participants.
