Obel's Kanal

Obels Kanal was made to add water and life to the area around Kanalhavnen. The canal was initiated in 1997 where it was built in order to bring the city behind the industry area closer to the Limfjord.

The name, Obels Kanel, comes from the tobacco factory C. W. Obels. At Strandvejen you will find granite sculptures named ”Tripalaka”, which is Sanskrit and means ”the three guardians”. These sculptures were raised in 1996 and are made by the sculptor Kirsten Lockenwitz.

A bascule bridge makes it possible to sail through Obels canal. The bascule bridge will open against payment. This can be done by contacting the bridge guardian at the Limfjord Bridge.
