Samsara is a film about human beings and the evasive stream of connections that run through our lives. The film explores the wonders of the world, from the mundane to the miraculous.
Samsara is a sacred word, meaning the ever-turning circle of life. This is the starting point for the makers of the film, Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson, whose award-winning films Baraka and Chronos brought both visual and musical excellence to the silver screen.
Filmed over a period of five years, in 25 different countries, across five continents, on 70 milimeter film, Samsara shows the viewer the worlds of the holy grounds, natural disasters, industrial complexes and the wonders of nature.
By cutting out dialogue and descriptive texts, the film differs from other, more traditional documentaries. Instead, it encourages personal interpretations through captivating imagery and music.
