Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet's Castle is a grand, annual event on an international scale at Kronborg Castle.

Every year in August various international theatre companies perform plays by Shakespeare, a tradition dating back to 1816. Over the years celebrities like Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton and Derek Jacobi have played Hamlet here, theatre companies from all over the world such as Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre, Sulaman Al-Bassam Theatre from Kuwait and Schaubühne Berlin have performed in the castle yard.

Shakespeare’s Puppets at Hamlet’s Castle presents the best and most imaginative of puppet theatres from all over the world. The theatre is 4 meters high and wide with a stage 3 meters deep to allow room for even the largest of puppets, as the puppeteers perform Shakespeare’s many plays for children down to 6 years of age.

Shakespeare’s Puppets 2014 plays King Lear from 1 - 31 July.
Shakespeare's Festival at Hamlets Castle 2014 takes place 1 - 10 August with Much Ado About Nothing, William, King Lear and Shakespeare in Concert on the program.
