Campsite in Lundum

There are a few primitive camp sites in connection to the hiking/bicycle route the Nature Path Horsens-Silkeborg. One of these is located by the village of Lundum, a few kilometres north of Horsens. Here, you will find three shelters in a peaceful area, well-sheltered from the activity on the route.

Lovely shelter at the railway path

The campsite in Lundum is an ideal choicew for you if you are seeking primitive accommodation outdoors on the hiking- and bicycle route between Horsens and Silkeborg. There are three shelters, drinking water, a fire ring, firewood, and a post that you can tether a horse to. There is also a prim itive toilet here. In other words, the site has all the facilities you need. The campsite in Lundum is well sheltered from the wind because of surrounding banks south and east of the shelters. It is a charming little site, surrounded by trees. The area outside the campsite is quite open with fields.

The campsite is well-suited for wheelchairs and prams just like the Nature Path Horsens-Silkeborg in general.

You can stock up on supplies in the nearby village of Lund – for example in Rema 1000 on Provstlund Allé.

 

Booking the shelters

You can sleep at the campsite for free, but it is reserved for hikers, cyclists, and riders on the Nature Path. Two of the three shelters can be booked in advance. The last shelter is first come, first served. Please note, that you must make room for other people who wish to sleep in the shelter. There is room for 6 people in each shelter.

About The Nature Path Horsens-Silkeborg

The Nature Path Horsens-Silkeborg is a tarmacked 61-kilometre-long railway path that connects the two cities. The route follows the tracks of the old Bryrup railway which was referred to as the most beautiful railway in Denmark in the railway’s heyday. The route is flat and placed away from busy roads. The trip to Silkeborg takes you through the hilly area Bakkelandet and The Danish Lakelands. You will pass over The Uncovered Bridge and also have a chance to go for a ride on an old steam locomotive on a part of the old railway.
