Kronborg Castle
Kronborg Castle - in which Shakespeare lets his drama Hamlet take place and where Denmark's legendary hero Holger the Dane sleeps in the Casemats - was finished in 1585. The builder was Frederik II and the architects were Hans von Paschen and Anthonis van Opbergen. The castle with its unique location on the Oeresund has the largest Great Hall in Europe (62 X 12 m). Kronborg has among other treasures 7 of Hans Kniper's royal tapestries which were made for the Great Hall in 1585.
