Cities and towns
Aalborg
North Jutland's main city and Denmark's fourth-biggest city is Aalborg, an exciting and dynamic harbour city experiencing rapid development. You can see the dramatic modernisation of the city along the harbour front, where the new Utzon Centre gives you the history of the world famous architects behind the Sydney Opera House. Jørn Utzon, who founded the company, was an Aalborg native.
Skagen
The yellow houses with red roofs of Skagen are the fashionable beach town's most recognizable feature. From the mid 19th century onwards, Skagen has been a favoured hang-out for artists and a popular summer retreat for young Danish urbanites.
Sæby and Mariager
Walk the beautifully-preserved streets of Sæby and Mariager’s old town centres.
East Coast towns
You can catch the ferry to Norway or Sweden at the busy fishing and harbour cities of Frederikshavn, Hastholm and Hirtshals.
West Coast towns
The west coast has a fine line-up of beach towns such as Blokhus, Løkken and Tversted, all popular holiday spots.
