Public parks and gardens are a special part of Danish culture, but private gardens can also be interesting places to visit. Inspired by the many open private gardens in Britain, a large number of private individuals (about 480 in total) have opened their private gardens to visitors either throughout the year or in the summer months. A few gardens are only open for a single weekend each year. There are gardens covering all kinds of garden styles, and all types of plant are represented: roses, grasses, fuchsia, bulb-plants and acid-loving plants - to mention but a few. Further information about "Open Gardens in Denmark" is available from the home page of The Danish Horticultural Society www.haveselskab.dk (in Danish only), or from local tourist offices which will be able to give you information about open gardens in their local area.
