The Green Key is an ecolabel awarded hotels, inns, holiday centres, youth hostels, conference facilities, restaurants, camping sites, holiday houses, and sports centres in Denmark.

In order to obtain The Green Key the enterprises must live up to a number of criteria, some of which are:

 

• Limitation of water- and energy consumption
• Environmentally safe cleaning- and washingagents
• Sorting of waste 
• No disposable drinking cups in the rooms
• A certain percentages of the food served at breakfast must be organically grown
• Non-smoking rooms and non-smoking area in the restaurant must be available

The Green Key is awarded for 12 months, after which the businesses are inspected to ascertain whether or not their Green Key can be retained.
