Approx. half of the 4000 Danish public telephone boxes are operated by means of tele cards, but especially at central traffic points also by means of Danish cuurency and Euros. The DKK coinage nominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 & 20DKK as well as the € coinage nominations € of 10c, 20c, 50c, 1€ & 2€ are accepted in payment. 900 of the public coin phones accept credit cards as well.
Tele cards in the nominations DKK 30, 50 & 100 can be purchased at railway stations, post offices, news stalls and petrol stations.
If your mobile phone uses the GMS standard, your phone is operational in Denmark, provided your telephone company has a roaming agreement with a Danish telephone company. If not, you can purchase a Danish mobile telephone card/SIM card and insert it instead, and the phone can be used in Denmark.
The 2007 EU roaming regulation introduces the "Eurotariff", which sets limits on the prices mobile operators can charge for mobile calls made or received while abroad in a European Union country. Eurotariff rates will gradually decrease from 2007 to 2009
