The Rock and Pop Scene
The special ambience of the Danish music scene always allows for the unexpected. The Danes still talk about the time when Bruce Springsteen was so inspired by the laid-back atmosphere of Copenhagen that he played a couple of songs with a street guitarist on the City’s main pedestrian street.

Classical
Denmark also has a rich classical music scene with seven full symphony orchestras and music conservatories, festivals and more in all regions of the country.

Jazz
In the 1960s and 70s Copenhagen gained a reputation as an international jazz capital after numerous American jazz musicians set up home in Denmark

Rock and Pop

Denmark’s rock and pop scene is, like the country as a whole, distinctive for its incredibly open and diversified approach.

The Danish Festival Scene

The season really gets going in summer when the festivals are on throughout the country. In Denmark the festival scene attracts the biggest names but still leaves room for tomorrow’s rising stars.

The most legendary is Roskilde Festival, which is one of the largest in the world, but the festivals in Skanderborg and Langeland are also firmly on the European rock-festival map. The festivals in Skagen and Tønder showcase mainly folk music.

International Jazz Scene

Names such as Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster and Thad Jones has performed alongside Danish jazz musicians on the Copenhagen jazz scene. They had a huge influence on the Danish music scene as a whole, not least in that they helped to promote a profusion of Danish jazz musicians, and Danish venues and festivals for jazz.

Copenhagen Jazzhouse is a hotspot for the Danish jazz scene, with performances of modern jazz and jazz-inspired music 3-7 days a week by some of the biggest international jazz names, along with Danish performers, established names and young talent.
