The purpose of the associationIn Denmark, there is a special association for Santa Clauses. The purpose of this association is to look after the interests of all authorised Santa Clauses, Female Santa Clauses, and Christmas Pixies (Nisser). In order to become an authorised Santa Claus, you have to meet a number of requirements; e.g. you have to like children, be friendly and honest, you must speak a sober language and you have to believe that the real Santa
Claus lives in Greenland. Moreover, you must be able to utter a warm and melodious ‘Ho! Ho! Ho!’

Charity workIt is stated in the articles of association that every year in December the Association must have a Christmas tree party somewhere in Denmark for “forgotten” and poor children. The party must be held in cooperation with another charity organisation, e.g. “red barnet” (Save the children). If this need does not exist as expressed in the articles, the board has the authority to provide economic support to other projects that help children.

The World Santa Claus CongressEvery year in July, there is an opportunity to meet many of the members of the association when the Santa Clauses have their traditional world congress on Bakken Amusement Park, north of Copenhagen. Here Santas from all over the world are gathered to celebrate, parade, dance around the Christmas tree and other Christmas fun.
