Aalborg

Aalborg is Denmark’s fourth biggest city, and it is located in the North Jutland region just south of the Limfjorden strait. With its cobbled streets and old buildings, Aalborg is a small, cosy city with a fantastic atmosphere. Aalborg offers a relaxed cafe environment, exciting specialty shops such as the cafe shop Penny Lane, where you can buy exquisite delicacies, and a large selection of restaurants. During the summer season, the entertainment district around Jomfru Ane Gade has an almost southern feel to it with all cafes and restaurants offering outdoor seating and service.

At Søgaard Brewery you can see the huge cobber boilers where beer is brewed and smell the heady aroma of hobs that fills the room. Here, you can enjoy a locally brewed beer such as Jomfruhumle, Naverbryg, and Gækkebryg. The brewery itself is located in the basement, where you can follow the brewing process through a glass wall and even have a look down the open fermenting tub. Moreover, the brewery serves Danish lunch meals and, just like the dinner menu, it is prepared with seasonal produce.

Aabybro Dairy

In the small dairy shop, you can meet two generations of the family behind the counter and they welcome everybody with good, old-fashioned personal service. Here, you can buy their famous ice cream which many locals are willing to drive a long distance to taste. Furthermore, they sell their own butter and cheese as well as a potpourri of selected specialities as well as wine, biscuits, marmalade, honey etc. The dairy shop is open Monday to Saturday. Vegetable market

Every Wednesday and Saturday between 7 am and 2 pm, you can experience a vegetable market at the market square in Ågade.

Mushrooms

In the forests nearby, you can find both King Bolete mushrooms and chanterelles during autumn. It is, however, important to get there early and also to be patient.
